First-Eighth Grade & Sacraments

SPECIAL NOTICE: Classes will not be held at the parish for the 2021-22 Catechetical year. At-home learning and sacrament preparation using a textbook and e-book will take place this year.

Program Info: All students will receive a textbook and an e-book with online learning that contains videos for each chapter with master catechists, sessions, resources, background information and so much more. This will allow families to engage in the form of learning that is best suited for your student. Two section heads will be checking with families throughout the year.

Tuition: Families registered at St. Perpetua
  Students in Grades 1-8 - $140.00 per student (all sacrament fees are included)

Families registered at another Catholic Parish
Students in Grades 1-8 - $200.00 per student (all sacrament fees are included)

Our Catechetical Year will begin September 12, 2021 and run through March 27, 2022
Three (Sunday) Family Formation Days in which families will gather in Church are included in the calendar.

Books and calendars will be available for all registered and paid in-full Religious Education families on Sunday, August 22, 2021 after the 9:30 & 11:30 Masses in the Rectory Garage.

All registrations are to be completed and mailed to Prince of Peace by August 15, 2021 along with in-full tuition checks payable to St. Perpetua

Welcome to Family Days: We are joyful to share faith with your family and grow in our love of God with your children and your whole family at St. Perpetua.

2021-2022 Family Day gatherings are an integral part of Religious Education at St. Perpetua. Families will be gathering in church for prayer and catechetical session led by Jeanne Martin, Geno Similie and Janice Sroczynski

Session #1 - Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 pm
Session #2 - Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 pm
Session #3 - Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 pm


Sacraments

First Reconciliation & First Eucharist: Families with children who will to celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist for the first time: please review the expectations below, and be sure to indicate which child(ren) will prepare for these sacraments this year on your registration form. Sacrament preparation will be done in the family with sacrament preparation books.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist family preparation Guidelines:

Children must be baptized in a Catholic Church; if not baptized at St. Perpetua, families must submit a copy of each child's baptism certificate.
Children must be in their 2nd consecutive year of Religious Education to prepare for the sacraments.
Parents and children are to complete First Reconciliation and First Eucharist workbook lessons at home as a family.
It is expected that all Religious Education families attend Mass every Sunday; especially families preparing to celebrate a sacrament.

All First Reconciliation and First Eucharist families will be contacted by the Religious Education Office after the Registration Form is received

First Reconciliation will be held during Advent. Date - TBD

2022 First Eucharist will be scheduled with each family during regularly scheduled Masses on the following dates during the Easter Season:  April 23, 24, 31   May 1, 7, 8

Confirmation: Families with teens who will prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Please review the preparation expectations below:

Teens must be baptized in Latin Rite Roman Catholic Church; families must submit a RECENT copy of each teen' baptism certificate (call your church of baptism and ask for a new copy of their baptism certificate to be mailed to St. Perpetua)
Teens must be in their 2nd consecutive year of Religious Education to be ready to prepare for the sacrament.
Teens must complete all Religious Education classes, assignments, and DUO classes and assignments in connection with their Confirmation textbook.
It is expected that all Religious Education families attend Mass every Sunday; especially families preparing to celebrate a sacrament.
